In New York,  the Dow Jones Index went up by 289 points or 0.61 percent on Friday. Top gainers were IBM (1.85%), JPMorgan (1.81%) and Amazon (1.77%). Biggest losses came from Nvidia (-1.99%), Travelers Companies (-0.56%) and J&J (-0.42%).

The Dow Jones Index Closes 0.61% Higher

The Ibovespa rose 0.5% to close at 159,072 on Friday, reaching a new record and securing a monthly gain of 6.5% as Vale and Itaú lifted the index with multi billion real dividends and steady risk appetite fueled by expectations of looser US monetary policy. Itaú rose 2.7% after approving R$23.4 billion in dividends and interest on equity. Vale advanced 1.6% after approving payments of R$3.58 per share. Other gainers included Ambev (1.3%), Banco Do Brasil (1.4%), Rede D'Or (1.9%), Bradesco (1.1%), B3 (2%). On the downside, Petrobras dropped 2.1% after releasing its 2026 to 2030 investment plan which is 1.8% smaller than last year’s proposal due to projections of lower oil prices. Optimism was also supported by Brazil’s unemployment rate falling to a historic low of 5.4% which was slightly better than the 5.5% expected.

Ibovespa Reaches Record High After November Rally

The S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 0.6% to close at 31,383 on Friday, securing a monthly gain of 3.8% in November and marking a fresh record high as markets absorbed a stronger than expected Q3 GDP print. Canada’s economy grew at an annualized 2.6% in the third quarter, well above forecasts of 0.5% and avoiding a second consecutive quarterly contraction. The report arrived as the Bank of Canada assessed economic momentum ahead of its December policy decision. At the same time, gold prices advanced on renewed optimism that the Fed will cut interest rates next month, lifting Canadian miners led by Wheaton Precious Metals which rose 2.7%. Oil prices also moved higher as prolonged Russia Ukraine peace talks kept geopolitical risks present, supporting local producers with Canadian Natural Resources adding 1.2%. In corporate news, CIBC upgraded Canadian National Railway to “outperformer” from “neutral” and climbed 1.5%.

TSX Sets Fresh Record High and Monthly Gains

Uruguay’s trade deficit widened to $223.8 million in October 2025 from $138.1 million a year earlier. Imports rose 8% year-on-year to $1.2 billion. Purchases of intermediate goods increased 11.5% amid a 105.8% surge in oil-distilled imports, while consumer goods rose 6.9%, with vehicle purchases up 34.2%. Meanwhile, exports increased only 0.5% to $998.5 million, as an 83.5% slump in utilities sales and a 5.9% drop in manufactured goods offset a 17.8% rise in primary sector shipments.
