Indonesia will offer to step up purchases of aircraft by state carrier Garuda Indonesia and wheat by instant noodle giant Indofood in tariff talks with the United States, Reuters reported. Chief Economics Minister Airlangga Hartarto, who is also Indonesia’s lead negotiator, said the government has proposed near-zero tariffs on key American exports—including agricultural products—which currently face tariffs of between 0% and 5%. Jakarta is facing a 32% tariff in US markets. It previously said it would sign a USD 34 billion pact with US partners next week, which includes commitments to buy more US goods as well as investments by Indonesian companies in the United States. Susiwijono Moegiarso, a senior official with Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said Jakarta has requested preferential tariffs from the US on Indonesia's main exports, including electronics, textiles, and footwear.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam increased by 8.1% year-on-year to USD 11.72 billion in the first half of 2025. This was the highest realized foreign direct investment for a six-month period in the past five years. Meanwhile, FDI pledges—an indicator of future disbursements—reached USD 21.52 billion, rising 32.6% compared to the same period last year.

Vietnam's trade surplus narrowed to USD 2.83 billion in  June 2025, down from USD 3.2 billion in the same month of 2024, as exports rose less than imports, marking the third straight month of surplus.  Exports grew by 16.3% yoy to USD 39.49 billion, while imports surged 20.2% to USD 36.66 billion.

Vietnam’s GDP expanded 7.96% yoy in Q2 2025, accelerating from a 6.93% expansion in Q1 and marking the fastest pace since Q3 2022, according to flash estimates.  All sectors showed stronger growth, including services (8.46% vs 7.70% in Q1), industry and construction (8.97% vs 7.42%), and agriculture (3.89% vs 3.74%).
