Saudi Arabia’s annual wholesale price inflation climbed to 3.5% in February 2026 from 2.9% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since March 2024. Cost pressures accelerated for food products, beverages and tobacco, and textiles (0.4% vs 0.3% in January), transportable goods excluding metal products, machinery and equipment (6.5% vs 4.9%), and metal products, machinery and equipment (1.4% vs 1.2%). However, price growth slowed for agriculture and fishery products (2.5% vs 4.2%), while cost declined further for ores and minerals (-0.2% vs -0.1%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices inched up 0.1%, easing from a 1.5% increase in January.

Saudi Arabia Wholesale Inflation Highest in Near 2 Years

Saudi Arabia’s annual inflation rate edged down to 1.7% in February 2026 from 1.8% in the prior month, marking the lowest level since September 2024. Price pressures eased for housing and utilities (4.1% vs 4.2% in January), insurance and financial services (1.0% vs 3.3%), recreation and culture (1.0% vs 2.3%), tobacco (0.4% vs 0.7%), education (1.4% vs 1.6%), and transport (1.4% vs 1.5%). Meanwhile, prices were flat for food and drinks (vs 0.2% previously), and clothing and footwear (vs 0.5% gain in January). Simultaneously, prices fell further for furnishings and household equipment (-0.9% vs -0.3%). On the other hand, inflation rebounded slightly in health (0.1% vs -0.1%) and accelerated for personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods (8.2% vs 7.9%), restaurants and hotels (1.9% vs 1.0%), and communication (1.1% vs 0.3%). Monthly, consumer prices were unchanged, following a 0.2% increase in January, which had been the largest rise in three months.

Saudi Arabia Inflation Rate Hits 17-Month Low

The Dow Jones Index decreased -130 points or 0.28 percent on Friday to close at 46548 points. The decline was led by Salesforce (-3.25%), Apple (-2.15%) and Microsoft (-1.57%). On the upside, the strongest performers were Boeing (2.56%), UnitedHealth (1.79%) and Verizon (1.42%).

The Dow Jones Index Closes 0.28% Lower

The Ibovespa index retreated 0.9% to close at 177,653 on Friday, capping a volatile week as intensifying geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a strengthening US dollar outweighed the positive domestic momentum from January's services sector growth. While early trading saw gains driven by services activity expanding 0.3% beyond market expectations, the index reversed course as crude oil prices surged back toward $100 per barrel, fueling global risk aversion and prompting a flight to liquidity.  Although the Ministry of Finance maintained its 2026 GDP growth projection at 2.3%, the broader market remains burdened by high container costs and the persistent threat of energy-driven inflation, forcing a cautious recalibration of asset valuations as participants await next week’s Federal Reserve and BCB policy meetings.
