Rwanda's annual inflation rate accelerated to 11.5% in April 2026 from 7.7% in the previous month. It was the highest level since October 2023, with food and non-alcoholic beverages rising at the fastest pace in nine months (5.8% vs. 4.6% in March), mainly driven by meat and non-alcoholic beverages. On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 5.7%, following a 1.7% increase in March, marking the fastest pace since the data series began in 2009.

New car sales in Indonesia surged 55.0% year-on-year to 80,776 units in April 2026, recovering from a 13.8% plunge in the previous month. The rebound came as activity returned to normal after the long Eid al-Fitr holiday in March. For the first four months of the year, car sales grew 12.5% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 289,787 units. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) previously targeted domestic new car sales to reach 850,000 units in 2026. That figure represents a 5.8% increase from the 2025 total of 803,687 units. On a monthly basis, car sales also rose, jumping 31.8% from March, when sales totaled 61,271 units. Meanwhile, retail new car sales increased 13.7% month-on-month to 75,730 units.

Indonesia Car Sales Jump 55% in April

Industrial production in Saudi Arabia slumped 14.1% year-on-year in March 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 15.0% surge in the previous month. Oil activities contracted (-22.2% vs 11.5% in February), weighed down by lower output in coke and refined petroleum products (-11.6% vs 5.2%) and crude petroleum and natural gas extraction (-22.2% vs 13.0%). Non-oil sectors stalled after rising 2.4%, as increases in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (1.1% vs 8.1%), along with electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (10.1% vs -3.7%), were offset by declines in manufacturing (-0.9% vs 2.8%).

China’s exports surged 14.1% year-on-year to USD 359.44 billion in April 2026, much faster than forecasts of 7.9% and accelerating sharply from March’s 2.5% rise, which was the weakest growth since October 2025. The acceleration in growth came as companies rushed to stockpile components from the manufacturing powerhouse amid fears that the Iran war could push input costs even higher.
