Petrobras was the main laggard, slumping 5.05% as it shed earlier gains from the announcement of its acquisition of a stake in offshore block 3 in São Tomé and Príncipe. In contrast, Vale rose 1.51% following resilient Q1 production data. The banking sector mostly supported the broader market as bond yields fell, with gains for Banco do Brasil (+0.78%), Santander Brazil (+0.70%), and Bradesco (+0.77%), while Itaúsa fell 0.27%. Other notable movers included Rede D'Or (+1.53%) and WEG (+0.54%), while Eletrobras fell 2.81% and Ambev shed 0.78%.

The Dow Jones Index went up by 869 points or 1.79 percent on Friday to close at 49447 points. The rise was led by Sherwin-Williams (3.83%), Home Depot (3.62%) and Merck (3.13%).

Peru's trade surplus widened to $4,189 million in February 2026 from $2,266 million a year earlier, as exports surged 38.2% to $8,988 million while imports rose 13.3% to $4,799 million. Export growth was driven primarily by mining products, which jumped 62.0% to $6,703 million, while agricultural sales climbed 50.0% to $42 million. Conversely, oil and gas exports fell 39.3% to $230 million and fishing products declined 14.8% to $283 million. On the import side, consumer goods rose 14.1% to $1,154 million, intermediate goods increased 6.4% to $2,166 million, and capital goods climbed 24.6% to $1,474 million.
